Ourania + Leo
When Ourania took Leo’s order at the restaurant she worked at, she could never have guessed they would one day become best friends, partners and then husband and wife.
Their November wedding was held at The Substation – a stunning Melbourne wedding venue and one of Ed Dixon Food Design’s personal fav’s. Its exposed brick walls, timber boards and lush velvet curtains made the perfect backdrop to Ourania and Leo’s special day.
Ourania’s vision for a rustic, romantic wedding was brought to life through the creative styling of Annabelle from Belco Events. The room was dressed overhead with gorgeous floral chandeliers by Flower Temple, and the tables adorned with crimson and blush posies and antique crockery.
For their menu, Ourania and Leo opted for our share platters.
“Both our cultures – Greek and Italian – love eating more than anything and sharing food,” Ourania said. “We decided on shared meals rather than individual plates… we wanted this event to be fun and really consist of what we love most in our lives: food, drinks and dancing.”
After enjoying canapes on arrival, guests were treated to an entrée of charcuterie, breads and cheeses on tall grazing tables. They then took their seats for main, enjoying our hazelnut and olive crusted eye fillet with onion soubise, grilled blood plum, salsa verde and jus, and our mouth-watering slow cooked pork belly with crispy crackling, apple, almond and fennel salad, star anise, chilli and pineapple jam. Finally, a speciality dessert table showcasing a range of sweets and cakes was the perfect complement to the couple’s wedding cheese cake by Richmond Hill Cafe and Larder.
To top it off, Ourania and Leo surprised their family and friends with a custom whiskey bar.
“Every one of our guests loves to drink and have a good time,” said Ourania. “It only made sense to have our very own whiskey bar!”
As a Melbourne wedding caterer, we love it when couples bring their own creativity and flair to an event. We were thrilled to be able to help Ourania and Leo make some truly wonderful memories with the people they love most!
